2003 Cabernet Sauvignon - Arns, John - Grown Estate

19/20 trinken- 2016 * My Favorite Wine of the Day! in The INSIDER GUIDE to Napa Valley (3. Mai 2004): How do I love thee? With passion and zeal for starters. This elegant achievement even after fewer than 12 months in barrel. A poster child for perfection. How do grower John Arns and winemaker Sandi Belcher do it? They do something that one finds in very few wines: I can think only of Guigal wines from the Northern Rhone (single vineyard) that share a similar esthetic. No matter when you taste a Guigal single-vineyard wine, it is ALWAYS in sync, in harmony, in balance. Marcel Guigal´s wines never seem to go through a dumb phase, a tight phase, a closed phase. They are always harmonious, giving, generous. Which is exactly what I find with Sandi Belcher´s wines. Year after year, her Arns Cab is in harmony, regardless at what stage of development you open it. The 2003 version is stunningly beautiful, powerful, balanced.
